  2. Hey lady! I have type 4 hair as well and when I cut my relaxed hair it was like, oh my gosh, whyyyy did I do this? Girl, do you know folks were telling me I looked like a straight up boy! Lol I was watching youtube every day, trying stuff I seen other young ladies trying, like, why my hair won't do that? Ugh, why she got curls and I don't? So I TOTALLY understand what you're saying about people with other hair types trying to tell YOU about YOUR hair! But after 3 years of being natural. I've learned a lot... Now I stillll haven't found all natural shampoos and conditioners all that, but I CAN tell you, even though you may have figured it out by now, that sprit zing your actual fro with water actually helps A LOT! Now I'm still trying different things, but the main method I alllllways end up going back to is the LOC method. Liquid-oil-cream or leave in-oil- cream. After I wash my hair, I let it dry just a little, so it's not soaking wet, and apply my leave in (cantu shea butters leave in conditioning repair cream). Then, I add some olive oil, and use shea butter OR jamaican black castor oil to seal it in and braid it or twist it. Braiding or twisting the hair while it's slightly damp will help to keep it from drawing up. You can unbraid it after it dries and very day when you notice it starting to draw up, spritz it with a little water and add a finger or two of shea butter on top to seal in the water and use your fingers to pull or stretch your hair. Again, this is the ONLY method I've found so far that seems to work for my type 4 hair that actually keeps it's stretched, soft, and moisturized. You will not be able to get it straight without a blow dryer of flat iron. Hope this helps and thank YOU for this video! By the way, I use shea moisture retention shampoo, organic oil root stimulator deep conditioner when I condition, suave clarifying shampoo, and the organix shampoo in the red bottle. The deep conditioner and leave in contain silicones, but I just find that they work great for my hair type and for me, they don't build up, probably because of the thickness of the hair type. I'm only mentioning these products in case you have them already. If you've found something that's working for you, stick with it! You're right about our hair not being that complicated. My Mama took care or it before I had a relaxer when I was little and it seemed healthy and just fine! I know she didn't do all that extra stuff! Ok, I'm done. That was a long post!

  3. This is a good  video. I wish more women heard this. You are so right. When did Black Hair become so complicated? It's Not, It's society and manufactures stating this MYTH.  It's JUST HAIR.  I just wrap it up when I go to the gym. Yes, I am Team Natural, yet I am also team wig, team weave and team braids. Whatever works, looks good and low maintenance.

  4. PREAAACH!!!! I took my hair videos down because I felt ridiculous. It's hair. Wash it condition it, braid it or flat iron it and keep it moving. I'm going to upgrade my dumbbells to 25lbs this weekend. hahaha

  6. The water and oil works for me. If u have 4c hair then I have 4D!! LOL!!  But after I do the water/oil method I place on a plastic cap then wrap it up at night. When i wake up my hair is so soft & moist. After about a week u will def see a difference!!!

  7. It's funny because it's those who are wearing sew ins and have relaxed hair that will have a bigger issue with messing up their hair while working out versus when our hair is natural. I've had natural hair for 14 years but I've worn weave most of that time. It's when I have sew ins that I don't want my head to get sweaty. But since I've been wearing my natural hair out for the last year straight, I don't even think twice about getting sweaty while working out. I was tempted to sew in some hair a few months ago and my boyfriend was like, NO,you won't workout if you do! And he's right. I had to get to a place of what's more important, my hair or my health? I'm choosing my health since I have quite a bit of work to put in and don't have time to be focused on some bs. The tip you gave about basing your hair around your workout, not your workout around your hair, is the best tip. Thanks!

  8. Your right about all of these hair videos. But not me i'm so grateful for your channel i just subscribed and i love your workouts i'm a simple girl i could care less about hair i can always buy a wig. We black women are most higher risk in so many diseases we need to get healthier.

  9. I totally agree with you. I'm a new natural and its so much hair products they say to use its not that complicated. Plus they make millions off of us (Africans) and we spend too much time concerning hair and should put more of that time in our health. Love your Vids btw and welcome to the natural world!!!!

  10. I have 4a hair I would co-wash and stretch and blah blah blah trying to make my hair look like something it wasn't. I just decided to wear my hair in twists and I loved it. I now decided to get locs. I just don't have the time for worrying about my hair and staying in all day styling it. I love to be active and bae loves the locs lol.

  13. Hi Buffy my three daughter and I have natural hair there 9, 8, & 5 years old . The old products work on my I add blue magic (red paper can) to my ends and twist it so it will not shrink and much and leave a plastic bag over it.. In them AM I add pink oil moisturizer to my entire head and style as desired and I have been do this for 9 years !!! My mom used it on my head as a child as well.. But for my kids hair the blue magic does nothing at all and we are all the nappiest (6c 4c whatever its called)) I used the ORGANIC VIRGIN COCONUT OIL unrefined (at Publix)and it works perfect I apply there's when wet and it easier to comb through.(( It says to rinse i dnt)) And I twist it till the Am and add the pink oil to the entire hair and style as usual. These things have work for us and there not expensive to try under wigs.. Hope it works Darling!!! Blessings to you and your viewers!!!

  14. Ok..I have 4c hair this is what I use..fresh aloe Vera blend it in a blender with lemon juice & evo. This mixture is added to my conditioner that I Co wash with and remainder is added to my water bottle to hydrate my hair. To retain length 2 strand twist ur hair after u have properly sealed ur hair. I style my hair with my homemade flax seed gel once my strains are 50% dry I un-twist my hair & diffuse or air dry. Sealing my hair I use evo washing & Co washing then use my coconut oil, leave in conditioner & seal in all my moisture with caster oil. If u need to clarify use honey & acv stay away from shampoo. If you feel that u need to use it place 1 tsp of shampoo into a color bottle with 4 tsp of evo then shampoo. so get some flax seeds, aloe Vera the plant, castor oil. You probably have the other items. I hope this helps. Please don't give up. I had to learn our hair texture. We need moisture & must keep it in our hair. Make sure u deep condition weekly. Do a monthly protein treatment until u feel that ur hair doesnt need monthly then switch 2 every 3 months.FB me if u have further ?'s. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  15. Let your hair breathe..  whatever you tell your hair to do.. overtime it will express itself.  If you dont know.. your hair would express the same energy.  It is very simple once you get it.. plus how you treat your body and what you put into it will express itself through your skin, hair, eyes, thoughts, and your mouth.

  16. Well people take a lot of time and money on hair weaves also.  So it's all the same

  17. Why did you cover your face in the natural hair pic?

  18. I have 4c "nappy", kinky, tightly curled hair. Understanding the science of black hair (for example, YT's Green Beauty channel) is the most important key to maintaining it. Moisture & oil are important as well as keeping the hair cleansed/clarified & deep conditioned. I wish you much success with your hair, and I thank you for sharing your fitness journey with us. God bless you.

  19. Hey, only thing to keep ur hair from drawing up are braid outs and twist outs....even then, that takes a while to do. Sorry honey, you gotta embrace the shrinkage for now. Your hair will grow, trust.

  20. 5:47 I do not think you should think so negative about your natural hair, I do not even believe in hair typing. I do not even consider myself any hairtype, my hair is like yours, it shrinks a lot, so short and if you do not oil the hair it dries out. The more course the hair, the more oil and moisture it absorbs. Your 4c hair is not bad, but you do need a lot of patience, and you should not be angry at yourself. It takes 4 years to see full length, and 2 years to have good results. I went natural 4 times because my grandmother fought me did not like my natural hair, this is my final time going natural, and every time I have tried, I got attacked by family or people I did not know. YET I AM STRONG. I love natural hair products, I use pree-poo and I sit the hair overnight, and then I shampoo it the next day, and condition it, and it defines the coils in my hair. My hair is just like yours,  Fuck what people think about you, fuck critizism, start loving yourself, how god made you.

  21. This is old but Buffie I have hair like that. My daughter has hair like that. She has been natural since birth I refuse to put any chemicals in her hair. I will tell you what I do. I wash her hair with Cantu shampoo, I use Shea moisture jamaican castor oil leave-in, I also use Cantu spray leave in too. I know this seems like a lot but her hair dries quickly and draws up like yours. The Cantu has detangling agent in it so I start detangling. I then use Dark n Lovely au naturale twist out butter, I then take pure shea butter and start banding her hair (your take hair bands and twist them around your hair which stretches the hair). I put her bonnet on and when she wakes up her hair is totally stretched like it was blow dried. I can take a flat iron and curl it or I can let her wear it in a bun. I think you should try the banding method it works wonders for her hair.

  22. Apple cider vinegar is an awesome detangler

  23. Exercising and keeping your hair tight can really be a challenge. You have to find a good routine that works for your routine.

  26. I am 4C and you going in a good direction. The shrinkage is real. Over time I use Shea Moisture but I just swap between the different collections. I found you by researching standing abs exercise. I was encouraged by a physical therapist to follow you for home and gym workout.

  27. 4c gang represent! If you are not use to doing your own hair you will have those negative views on it. Our hair is beautiful and yes its the curliest. For me I workout with my twist or braids. I don't straighten my hair. If you want straight hair get a wig. Under the wig have twist. When you workout take off the wig and rock your twist. Don't let hair get in your way of being healthy.

  28. I totally agree!! Black women need to focus on healthy eating and exercise. These improve hair as well. Kudos Ms. Buffy!!
